It is impossible to write a great essay without an outline as it is not only the skeleton of your work, but the best way to organize your writing and order your thoughts.
Before you start writing the 5 paragraph essay outline, make sure that you gathered all the necessary facts and information. You can also make a list of the books or articles that will be useful for your work. Make some short notes, it will help you to build complete sentences and vary them. Try to base the outline on the main ideas of your essay.
The approximate form of the five paragraph essay outline:
- I. Introduction. (Interesting information to capture the readers)
- II. Body paragraph A
Point 1. (Details/ Examples/Arguments, etc) - III. Body paragraph B
Point 2. (Details/ Examples/Arguments, etc) - IV. Body paragraph C
Point 3. (Details/ Examples/Arguments, etc) - V. Conclusion (Summary of the main ideas)
To be clear:
- Introduction is the opportunity to put your essay in context
- Body paragraph is the arguments to support your thesis (data, fact, detail, example, analysis, etc)
- Conclusion should wrap up the essay and summarize the general points
- You can create the form of the 5 paragraph essay outline of your own and guide your writing. Some students use circles. But the general idea of its structure is the same.
